HOW AND WHEN TO USE 911
- Use 911 to report a Fire, Accidents, Injuries or a Crime.
- If you are in doubt it is better to call 911 then to try and get help on your own.
- 911 is a free call from all Pay Phones
- Stay on the line with the dispatcher until they instruct you to hang-up. This is
important since the dispatcher may only have you on hold while notifying the emergency
service provider, however there still may be information that you can provide to the
emergency unit. This may be in the form of more specific direction or the dispatcher
may be able to direct you with CPR or other help that you may directly be able to provide
until the emergency units arrive.
- There are basic questions that a dispatcher must ask for each call, these are important
questions. We understand you are distressed however please try to speak slowly
and clearly.
